My latest work still finds me very much in pursuit of the illusive quality of Light and Surface Effects. I enjoy how colour and contrast, light and dark play off each other to create new and intriguing possibilities in my process. I am always looking for imaginative and delightful aspects in the image, often revealing unexpected symbols and meanings. This improvisational method offers me an intuitive and contemplative approach that inspires a complexity in each image and keeps me constantly intrigued and enthusiastic about the next step. I start with randomly produced shapes and colours. Then I look for a pleasing arrangement or composition. I will enhance what I see though countless choices of colour, contrast, light and dark relationships to bring forward something recognizable. My works share the same qualities as Rorschach inkblots – having many interpretations. I hope you Have a Great Day! BIOGRAPHY Born in Toronto, Ontario, I first began my art studies at Humber College in Communication and Design. My experience as a Graphic Designer helped me realize an affinity to composition. My desire to broaden the context of self-expression, led me to study Art Studio and Art History at the University of Toronto. From my printmaking classes I discovered a fascination with techniques, producing abstract and enigmatic effects that were suggestive of surface textures and a topographic quality which persists in my work today. Vibrant and Fun! About This Artwork: “As Words To The Wind”-Unique Digital Painting, Limited Edition 100 Total Various Sizes. I drew inspiration from my Abstract Expressionist roots for this Unique Digital Painting. While it is not entirely nonobjective, there are allusions to highly abstract imagery. My creative process places great importance on spontaneity and improvisation, emphasizing dynamic and energetic gestural bands of colour. The title implies that colours and shapes are like words tossed to the wind, taking on a new form - scattered bits of a puzzle that evoke a vague narrative, with hidden symbolism waiting to be deciphered.
